The coconut growers on the coast of Southern India use every part of the coconut. Virtually nothing goes to waste. The husks are first "seasoned" in the lagoons off the coast then each husk is beaten by hand to extract the fibre. This fibre is woven into doormats, then stenciled with vibrant designs.
