These sculptures were originally created over forty years ago by Polish artists working in the famous porcelain factory at Cmielow in south eastern Poland – a town where porcelain has been manufactured since 1790. Inspired by the art of Henry Moore and Picasso they consist of many different birds and animals as well as female figures in the fashions of the time. Production ceased during the sixties due to a disastrous fire but recently many of the original moulds have been recovered, fortunately most have needed only minor repairs and have now been put back in to production at the original factory in Cmielow.
