Handmade Broken Pearl Platter

A striking black platter, hand carved from wood by Vienamese craftsmen.
The careful and laborious lacquering process using natural lacquer takes 90 days to complete. The platter is then decorated using mother of pearl from sea shells, cut into shape and applied by hand to the design.
The platter is handmade in Vietnam by a co-operative group. Lacquerware is a part of Vietnam's culture; the practice has not changed for thousands of years.
