Description Blown like bubble gum into a mould, the Tom Dixon Mirror Balls are plastic spheres metallised internally to give a mirror finish, which focuses the light from the bulb, projecting a soft, broad beam of light. The chrome look has the added benefit of making the exterior highly reflective. The Mirror Ball is also available to purchase with a stainless steel floor stand. The Mirror Ball range are all products which share the same special vacuum metallisation process which has been developed over a number of years by Tom Dixon in partnership with our factory. Materials & Finishes Plastic polycarbonate globe with internal mirror coating Specification Diameter mini: 250mm Diameter medium: 400mmm Diameter large: 500mm Cord length: mini 2000mm medium/large 2500mm Additional Information The technically complex nature of this process (i.e applying a very thin layer of real metal to the internal surface of a polycarbonate form, which is then UV coated) requires highly skilled workers, specific machinery and clean environments to meet our demanding quality levels. We have sought to perfect this process but due to environmental conditions outside of our control, there may at times be evidence of extremely small holes appearing within the metal coating. We have worked hard to minimise this as far as possible, and often these products do not show evidence of such imperfections but it is always good to be aware just in case the event should arise. In addition to research and development of the production process, we also have to adhere to specific European Directives (such as "The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive" (RoHS) 2002/95/EC) and certain safety standards required by the international marketplace (British Standard, European Certificate, UL Rating, CCC and so on).
