Self from Vitra was designed by and is a modular shelved display cabinet or bookcase which invites the user to intereact with it! There are only two elements to it - the horizontal shelves (available in black or white) and the vertical dividing 'walls', which come in a variety of sizes and colours. Collectively these elements make an easy to build system which can be closed, open or accessed from both sides to function as a bookshelf, display cabinet or room divider. The basic set consists of one base with 12 height adjustable feet, an additional shelf and a set of 8 support rods (2 for each layer of shelving). Additional shelves and dividing walls can be added to your system to create a shelf to your exact requirements and colour scheme. Dividing walls come in a set of three pieces and we recommend the use of at least 9 dividing walls per additional height. Examples are as follows : Self 50cm High : 1 Basic set plus 9 dividing walls (as seen in the first image below in black).
