It's about simplicity and beauty in design. Good design gives [one] a sense of control.
mydeco.com in conversation with Toni, from Skandivis.
Where do you go to source the best of Scandinavian design?
I visit trade shows, such as Formland in Denmark, but prefer doing my research by visiting small independent design shops, as this is often where products will first be seen. I am also an avid reader of Scandinavian Interiors magazines and blogs and gain a very good insight this way too.
Who would you say is your favourite Scandinavian designer?
I don't really have a favourite Scandinavian designer and, as much as I value classic designers such as Verner Panton and Arne Jacobsen, I get much more excited by discovering less known up and coming Nordic designers.
What do you think it is about Scandinavian design that makes it so popular?
It's about simplicity and beauty in design. We all have very busy lives, so coming back to a bright home with less clutter and good design gives us a sense of control and a much needed space to relax.
Out of all of your products, which do you think every home should have?
In my mind no home should be without a few statement cushions as they make a huge impact with minimal effort and cost.
What do you miss most about being in the UK?
My family, old friends and, of course, the Danish humour!
