Jo creates truly beautiful, clean and elegant lights, crockery and vases. I saw her designs at a pop-up shop at Somerset House, London, and they really stood apart from the rest. They're really tactile and curvaceous and I could imagine spending hours just staring at her lights hanging on my living room wall. Obsessive? No, but extremely appreciative!

When and how did you get into making ceramics?
At school I was encouraged a lot by our ceramics teacher and I have never looked back.
What's the ethos behind your brand?
To produce high quality handmade objects using traditional methods with non-traditional results.
Where do you find your inspiration?
During the making process and in architectural decoration.
What is your most prized possession?
The butcher's block that's been in my family since I was a kid and has long been the kitchen table both in my parents' household and now mine.
How would you sum up your personal style in one word?
Monochrome.
Can you explain a little more about how you make your products?
Each design is thrown on the pottery wheel and each component starts using this process and are then constructed. They are then left to dry before going into the kiln, which is a two-day process. I then glaze the work by dipping and pouring glaze onto them, this enhances the sense of liquidity on the final, fired surface, which is an important difference from industrially produced ceramics which are sprayed with glaze producing a more 'still' surface.
