Calling all design purists! We can't wait for the launch of Fired Earth's new fitted kitchen, Moderne. The collection has been designed by Charles Smallbone and built around a simple and practical design.

With a full design and fitting service included, the collection promises to remain an affordable luxury, and offers up a range of 12 painted finishes and marble and granite work surfaces and splashbacks that have been designed not to date. Careful attention to quality is evident in the clever detailing and accessorisation.

'We wanted to create a system that would work in every home,' claims Charles Smallbone. 'The accent has been very much on angularity of design. This is evident in the cupboards, in the handles, the worktop detailing and the cornicing.'

The Moderne collection is composed of oak and beech veneer from sustainable sources and has been hand-crafted in France exclusively for Fired Earth by its sister company, Grange. The result is a fusion of traditional and contemporary, clean lines and iconic feautures that, up until now, could only be obtained from bespoke kitchens.

In speaking of his collaboration with Fired Earth, Charles Smallbone feels that 'individuality can be achieved with accessorisation and the materials used. I really wanted to create something pared-down, simple to understand, and with a lightness of touch. The detail is all-important, and there's a simplicity of the design in this kitchen.'
