Become a certified green goddess in just one day. How? Simply join Team Green Britain on 10th July 2009 to celebrate Green Britain Day and pledge to help Great Britain reduce its Carbon footprint by 2012. Easy.

What do Wayne Hemmingway, Victoria Pendleton and James Cracknell all have in common? No, that's not the start of a poor joke; the talented trio have actually all signed up to Green Britain Day along with thousands of others in a bid to cut down Britain's carbon footprint.

The event is gathering momentum as celebrities, designers and Olympians join forces to take action towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Olympic gold medallist and World Champion Victoria Pendleton launched the campaign last week, fresh from collecting her MBE, by wearing this fabulous Union Jack dress. Specially designed for her by established British designer Wayne Hemingway using 100% recycled fabrics, it has serious vintage and design appeal.

Joined by her fellow Olympians on June 10th Victoria will be calling for everyone to help work towards lowering Great Britain’s carbon footprint by the time the 2012 Olympics arrive in the capital.

Developed in association with The Eden project the Team Green Britain website is packed with help and advice on how to get involved. We love the idea of throwing a bring and swap party. Check out the homes and garden section for more info and ideas.

Or why not lower your carbon footprint by supporting local craft. This Union Jack bunting from Pedlars is made in the UK and has bags of British charm.

So show your support and join thousands of people take action, from July 10th onwards, towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Go team Britain!
