Getting your hands on the most unique creations before they hit the high street need not be expensive. We've hand-picked 10 of the best products from our design boutique, a treasure trove of original items from independent designers, that will surely whet your appetite.

1. Urban prints

Annette Taylor Anderson draws her inspiration from London's urban surroundings. We love her flame-retardant Squiggle print luxury cushion (£45). The pattern is formed by transposing images through an innovative digital printing process using organic ceramic colour pigments onto the cushion surface. Gorgeously mind-boggling.

  • Grate light

    2. Grate idea

Jason Taylor's recycled futuristic cheese grater light (£25) is so much more than an average light. He promotes the use of reusable materials in his pieces, some of which can be seen at the light exhibition at Manchester City Art Gallery.

  • Melamine Tablemats in Indigo Blue (set of six)

    3. Table Talk

Dominic Crinson balances the ‘natural with the ornate, the playful with the stylish'. Check out his timeless digitally printed melamine table mats (£29.95). They don't just look good – they have a five-year guarantee against scratches and stains to boot.

  • Mid Century Chairs NATURAL Cushion

    4. Take the chair

Kiwi born Jen Bowmast uses her experience in graphic design to wow us with funky items like this hand printed cushion (£25). Printed on hardwearing cotton, this cushion is part off the 'Mid Century Chair' range, paying tribute to mid-century design classics by featuring bold, black silhouettes.

  • OTO Chalkboard

    5. Previously loved

Did you know that in the UK we use over 500 million plastic bags every week? Do your bit for the planet with this OTA wall mounted message board (£45) created out of recycled plastic by Spinifex.

  • Tab A

    6. Avant-garde living

A couple of years back, brothers Andy and Chris Vernall launched Vitamin, aiming to provide design solutions for modern life. Their multifunctional Tab A vase (£34.50) triples up by working as a vase, bowl and ashtray. Talk about getting three for the price of one.

  • MOW Candle/vase

    7. Bee ethical

Spinifex prides itself on using sustainable materials in order to promote increased ethical awareness. Take these unique bio-degradable beeswax candle vases (£12). They burn to reveal two cavities thus creating a double vase in which to place flowers.

  • Drip Candlesticks (set of 2)

    8. Wax lyrical

Celebrated British/Japanese designer Reiko Kaneko injects a sense of humour and elegance into her surreal drip candlesticks (£29.95). They look just like they are covered in dripping wax but are actually created from the finest bone china. Handle with care.

  • Black on white mug by Johanna Basford

    9. From dawn 'til damask

Johanna Basford can be credited for bringing the damask print into the 21st century. Like us, fashion house DKNY adore her intricate motif prints and installed her wallpaper in their Bond Street store in London in 2005. Step into her stylish world with this must-have affordable bone china mug (£7).

  • Blaue Blume Gold ShoesTeacup

    10. Dita von Tea-se

Bring a touch of feminine sauciness to your morning cup of tea with this Blaue blume gold shoe teacup (£35) designed by Tina Tsang of Undergrowth. She beautifully creates the extraordinary out of the ordinary – her burlesque-style porcelain creations with lace patterns are firm fashion favorites. Best of all, we are offering an exclusive 10% her iconic cakestand (£99, normally £110) so you can show it off to friends and family. Because you're worth it.
