Creating the interior design for children's rooms may seem like a fun and exciting task, but the end results can have a significant impact on a youngster's development.
That is according to The Times, which suggested that decorating for children can either carry the opportunity to introduce them to good taste or the risk of encouraging them into bad habits.
What's more, while it can be tempting for parents to transform children's rooms into mystical wonderlands themed after their favourite characters, this is not always the best way forward.
In fact, interior designer Niloufar Bakhtiar-Clignet told the newspaper: 'Kids' rooms should be designed in your style, with basics that are like the rest of the house.'
That being said, there is still plenty of room for exciting and expressive furniture and features, such as metamorphic beds, modular furniture and matryoshka rugs.
Ms Bakhtair-Clignet urged parents to remain steadfast in the face of what the marketing industry has come to know as 'pester power', however she said that lapses will still occur.
'It's easy to make mistakes. Suddenly, they love Spider-Man and you don't realise it's a bad-taste moment,' she told The Times.
