Old fashioned floral wallpaper and a dated kitchen would make most homes feel retro to say the least.
In a mobile home, however, the overall effect is usually one which makes the space feel a bit uncomfortable.
This is something that has not gone unnoticed by former graphic designer Dick Shone, who is determined to give the mobile home a much-needed makeover.
Speaking to The Independent, Mr Shone explained that his company Boutique Caravans sells homes that are "comparable" to one or two-bed flats.
The eco-friendly homes include energy-saving technology and a minimalist design that features plenty of glass, modern fittings and stripped wood.
He told the newspaper: "Contemporary style hasn't moved into the caravan industry ... [but] these homes are comparable with living in a typical one or two-bedroom flat. Once inside, you wouldn't know the difference, except they cost less to buy and run."
