Designers get more adventurous

Interior designers are set to get more adventurous in the coming year as they throw caution to the wind and bypass safe, muted tones.

Speaking to the Press and Journal, leading interior designer at Living In Space Anita Kohn said: "Generally, people are more at ease about their taste and this year will be ready and willing to experiment."

"They're going to want to make interior-design statements to add 'wow' factor to rooms, with bold wallpaper prints continuing to be a strong and popular trend," she added.

These views were echoed by designer Kritine Irving, who recently told the Boston Herald that people are definitely showing more interest in saturated colours.

Meanwhile, Alan Hughes, director of Inchbald School of Interior Design, said that replicating a look seen in a magazine or copying a hotel suite is "very yesterday" and homeowners should try and personalise their interiors so their own character shows through in the d&eacutecor.
