Making a moodboard can be useful when redecorating

Using the professional interior designer technique of creating a moodboard can be useful for people redecorating their homes, it has been claimed.

According to interior stylist Jeska Hearne, moodboards are used by a multitude of designers to keep an archive of their favourite interiors.

Speaking to the Guardian, Hearne said: "If you're planning to redecorate, you might have seen lots of pictures that you like in magazines, but you can't really get an idea of how that style or scheme might work in your own house without trying it out on some scale."

She added that creating a moodboard can help you bring all your ideas together in one place and stop you getting carried away.

They also provide you with a reminder of which colours work together and which don't, she concluded.

Recently, professional designer Wendy Salamon told the Victoria Times Colonist that people should not just ignore the advice of designers – especially if they have hired them themselves.
