About us
© mydeco

Our mission at mydeco is to be your first stop to design and shop
for your home.

Whether your style is Beckham-boudoir or Conran-classic, we’re all about bringing you everything you need to make your home the best it can be. We know what it’s like. We’ve trawled the High Street searching for the perfect sofa, tried to visualise statement walls from a one inch paint swatch, and we’ve wondered; WHY isn’t there a place online where I can find everything I need, and try it before I buy it? So we’ve created one, and we hope you like it.

mydeco brings together the widest possible range of products from high street stores to niche retailers, thousands of inspiring looks to fit your budget, expert designers on hand for advice, and simple 3D tools to help you plan your room before you even open a tin of paint. You can also join our community to share ideas, swap decorating tips and show off your designs. It’s everything you need to buy with confidence.

What we’re not

We are not a retailer; we aren’t interested in selling you particular products or brands, so you’ll always find the widest possible range of products at mydeco.

Keep in touch

Give us your email address and we’ll keep you updated on all the latest news, deals and furniture fabulousness from mydeco. We hate spam, and we promise not to send you any (we also make it easy to unsubscribe at any time).

We’ve got lots more great ideas up our sleeves, so we hope you’ll stay tuned.

How we think

mydeco {it's leaping, vaulting, nothing's impossible ambition}

Some people might stop at building not one but three advanced room planning tools, or they might throw in a few articles and then have a cup of tea. At mydeco, we believe home is more than where your heart is; it’s where your soul, personality and aspirations come together. And we’d be doing you a disservice if we strived for anything less than a daring, outrageously ambitious home design revolution.

Get inspiration from 1,000 Buy the look room ideas.

mydeco {it's exceptional, professional and passionately progressive}

We tell it how it is. Straight up. Whether it’s what we think of your new living room wallpaper, or how we work with our retailer friends, we promise to be honest and up-front at all times. What you see is what you get – which is why we built room planning tools that show you exactly how your finished design will look with the click of a mouse. If there’s a problem, we’ll do our best to make it right.

Try our 3D room planning tools.

mydeco {it's collaborative, responsive and totally committed}

We’re about making home design easier, quicker and more enjoyable - and we won’t rest until mydeco.com meets your every furniture wish. Most of our best ideas don’t come from clever thinky-tanks but from our community of illustrious, ambitious and adventurous members. We love to hear what you think, please send us your thoughts here.

Who we are

mydeco was founded in February 2007 by Brent Hoberman. Brent co-founded lastminute.com with Martha Lane Fox in 1998. He was CEO from inception, and the company raised £120 million in an IPO 18 months after the site launched. Seven years later, the ground breaking travel and leisure website had acquired 14 businesses and was sold for $1.1 billion. Brent is Executive Chairman of mydeco, non-executive Chairman of WAYN (a travel and leisure social network with over 9 million members), a non-executive board director of Guardian Media Group and also acts as Governor of University of the Arts College, London. Brent is also an angel investor and has invested in seed rounds in amongst others: moveme.com, viagogo, t5m, imagini.net, academia.eu.

mydeco is now 35 people strong, and we live in Notting Hill, London. We’ve got a passionate and talented founding team on board, with experience ranging from Community-building and 3D Design to Interior Designers and Architects. Here are a few more people you might like to meet:

David Kelly, Chief Executive Officer

David was previously Vice President of European Business Operations at eBay Inc, where he lead a cross-functional team of over 2,000 people. Prior to joining eBay, David was Chief Operating Officer at lastminute.com where he worked closely with Brent and Martha, and Operations Director at Amazon.co.uk. David is excited to be launching a start-up and now understands the value of the colour wheel.

Paul Chudleigh, Chief Technology Officer

Paul is responsible for the whizzy technology that makes mydeco special. Paul held a variety of technical positions at lastminute.com, including Head of Software Development and Head of Technical Architecture. Paul never thought his Computer Science degree would be applied to furniture and accessories.

Annie Deakin, Editor

Frighteningly hip journalist Annie Deakin spreads the word on the latest trends and hottest home products. In addition to editing the mydeco Magazine, Annie is a weekly design columnist for The Independent and is the Interiors writer for The Hill. Prior to this, Annie wrote for ES Magazine, Harrods Magazine, Daily Mail, The Independent and Brides. Trust Annie, she’s mydeco’s own style pundit.

Pia Munden, Interior Designer

Pia is an interior design expert and prior to joining mydeco worked as Head of Studio for renowned Llewelyn-Bowen Ltd products. In this capacity Pia was Director of Design for Llewelyn-Bowen Associates (BIDA), as well as being Head Designer for the product side of the business. She has overseen design work for major blue chip companies such as Dartington Crystal and Royal Worcester, as well as more unusual projects such as “Hotel room of the future” for Intercontinental Hotels. We all want our homes to look like Pia’s.

Investors in mydeco

We’re very proud to have attracted a visionary group of investors through two funding rounds, the second of which was led by Sofinnova Partners, one of Europe’s leading venture capital firms, and in which other participants included SRPE, Amadeus Capital Partners and Burda Cross Media. Our seed round was led by SPARK Ventures and included Lord Rothschild family interests, Marc Worth, founder of Worth Global Style Network, Edward Atkin, founder of Canon Avent and Yoo Design Ltd, the property development company lead by John Hitchcox and Philippe Starck.

Hi!
I wonder if I have missed a setting somewhere...When I create a moodboard (wich is totally addicting!!) and other people view or vote...it doesnt seem to come up on the actually competition site? Any idea....would be nice to know how many people that are looking at my stuff. For example...it looks like I have 6 votes on my C-vitamin room....but on the competition site is says 1.... Can u explain, please? Thanks, Lena

Hello there, This is definitely not a great place to ask questions like the above - it is by chance I saw them! It is a much better idea to either leave feedback using the corner on the bottom right hand side, message me here or email me at community@mydeco.com, post a blog or ask a question in Q&A. That way your question will be dealt with super quickly and your problems solved.

Vidivici: Currently there is no way to make a circle room, although you can upload a floor plan yourself and edit from there.

Kelbar: I am assuming your rooms have appeared now - it could be that they were wrongly sized so they did not show up. Save the images as jpgs of aruond 300x300 and you should be fine.

Dancer101901: If you look at the room in your profile that you wish to delete, you will see the option to delete it on the left hand side. Please contact me if you cannot see this option. You could be logged out if this is the case.

Kindest regards,
Cleberry xx

You're driving me crazy. Trying to order £28 Moroccan candle holder from Lucy G Barnes wishlist. I add it to the basket, taken to the home page and told nothing in basket.

Congratulations on winning an Online Retail Award for 2009 - it's a real accolade!

Hey! BenGriffiths, if you go to 'your account', 'your profile' then click on 'wishlist products' you will see your whole wishlist. From here, move your mouse over the product you wish to remove, and the option to remove the product will appear. Just click on that link and you can remove it.

Lucy and Rory: Would I be able to get a little more information about the product - do you know which retailer it is from?
